About Tina

Tina has been working in the children’s fitness world for over a decade. In 2005, Tina took her first job with kids working at her town’s recreation department's summer camp. For two summers, she would lead the campers through various fitness and sports related activities along with arts, crafts, and music. Shortly after, Tina headed to study music at Ramapo College of New Jersey where she would land a job teaching ballet and tap dance to preschoolers at an Apple Montessori school in Northern New Jersey.

In 2009, at the age of 19, Tina took a job at My Gym Children’s Fitness Center in West Orange, NJ. Little did she know, she would spend the greater part of her early adulthood inside that gym! Tina continued to work as a lead teacher at My Gym leading thousands of classes for children aged 6 months to 13 years. After graduating from Ramapo College of New Jersey with a bachelor’s degree in Music, Tina was appointed director of My Gym Parsippany.

After five years at My Gym, leading numerous classes, camps, events, mobile courses, and birthday parties, it was time to say goodbye. Tina likes to think she “grew into an adult as a child” through those doors. Although she spent most of her time teaching fitness and wellness to children from the age of 19 to the age of 23, Tina was always a yogi on the side. In 2012, her love for yoga took her away from My Gym and on her first of now nine trips to study in India.

After returning back home, she took various freelance jobs at yoga studios, but continued to teach children through music and yoga. Tina taught music lessons at various preschools with a small company called “The Jam Cats” and brought yoga to schools through enrichment programs with The Learning Experience. Shortly after, Tina moved to Montreal, Quebec with her husband Kyle and continued to run children’s yoga courses through her own business called “Monkey Time Yoga Montreal”. Their time in Montreal was short lived, as Tina and Kyle soon relocated to Abu Dhabi, UAE to start a life abroad as expats. Since then she has been sharing kids yoga throughout Abu Dhabi. Tina and has gone through numerous training courses and workshops all over the world. Tina is extremely excited for this opportunity to share yoga with the children of the world, and help yoga teachers, parents, and educators do the same!

Hi, Namaste, and Welcome to the Surya Kids Yoga Teacher Training! We are thrilled and excited to take this journey into teaching yoga to children with you.

In this training, you will be introduced to basic techniques to guide children ages 3-12 through classes appropriate for schools, yoga studios, community centers, and right at home. You will learn fun and exciting ways to instruct children on asana, pranayama, and meditation. We will cover yogic philosophy, and explore asanas children can enjoy and benefit from regardless of age and ability. We will play funny games, sing silly songs, and bring out our inner-child.

This course is perfect for educators, yoga teachers, parents, or anyone looking to spread their love of yoga to kids.
With a little creativity, yoga can be taught to anyone, anywhere. We believe that every teacher will have something different and special to bring to every student. Get ready to let your imagination run wild!

Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teachers are able to receive 20 CEU credits after completion of the course. (15-hours of in person training and 5 hours of self-learning / online training).
